Welcome BackWelcome back! Happy new year to you all. Again, thank you very much for all your cards and goodies!! Not good for our waistlines but we all need the energy. The HorsesI have spent much time phoning, emailing and searching the net for replacement horses. We have one on trial and I'm off to Glastonbury at the weekend to see another. Fund RaisingAs we enter this coming year we do have some expenses to meet so I make a plea to you all to see if you can think of fund raising ideas. Try and get people involved outside our usual network. We did hold an EGM at the end of last term and we are getting closer to completing the change over to a Limited Company, this will mean a solicitor's bill. Christmas Eve I spent at the Horse and Groom drawing the Christmas Draw. There were several very happy prize winners and we raised a total of £1,245. Good effort – thanks particularly to Jim and Ollie for their efforts. Mary's (Mum's) Fund is a total of £3,200 which she would have been pleased with and it will be put to good use as well as having something in her memory. John Petit's Fund is waiting for the right horse to come our way. Just before Christmas a great friend of the Group died suddenly. John Murray-Brown supported us for many years and will be sadly missed. The funeral collection was for us and raised £510. Joy Murray Brown still wants to keep in touch and help us where she can. FarewellAs some of you will know Jane Lankester our Chairman will be moving to Honiton next month. She will still remain in office and when settled will continue to instruct when she can. From all the Group we wish you every happiness. I know that Honiton is far away but Jane would appreciate a visit when you are passing (I think). We Need...As usual we always like gifts to help out with our finances - we are especially short on toilet rolls and general cleaning stuff at the moment:
| ThanksThe Christmas time has meant lots of mucking out, washing mud off and drying rugs! Not pleasant – thanks to Liné, Hugh, Beth and Rachael for helping out. I would like to thank John Rogers for doing so many chores over the last six months and lately David who has just started to come and help out. There is so much to be done maintenance-wise so the more the merrier. Also many thanks to Maggie Loghran for doing the toilets once a week and of course to the office ladies!! We have just about covered all sessions now which does help. Charitable StatusWe are still waiting for confirmation of our new charity number. Books for Sale / LoanThe book/DVD sale and loan library is doing well. We nearly always have some good bargains for sale. Erme Valley Items for Sale
